Day 1, morning

As you may or may not know, Derek and I are driving from Churchville, PA to Los Angeles, CA over the next week. I, being superbly organized and interesting, decided to create a blog to document our trip west.

We are going west because Derek has a job opportunity with Universal/NBC studios. Anyone who knows him knows he's an extremely talented composer and this is his shot to make things happen.

Here's a list of what's happened so far:

8:26 a.m.: Left Derek's house in Churchville
8:27 a.m.: Realized we didn't know where we were going
8:32 a.m.: Derek asked "Did we forget the drinks?"
8:35 a.m.: Turned around for drinks
8:44 a.m.: On the road again!
8:54 a.m.: Stopped for gas, then head to the PA turnpike

We are currently on the turnpike, moving pretty slowly because of traffic. I think the highlight of the trip so far was Derek asking "We're going west, right?" as we got on the turnpike. Then he drove through the EZ Pass lane and realized he no longer had EZ Pass. Can't wait to pay that toll on the other side of PA.

Noteworthy cars we've seen so far (for those of you who are into that sort of thing):

1. Mach 1 Mustang
2. Volkswagon rabbit, w/wide body kit (Derek says nobody cares about that, but I thought it was cute)

Today our goal is drive to Chicago, IL, where we will stay with Derek's friend Sarah overnight. The GPS estimates that we have 755 miles to go.

That's all for now. Stay tuned!
